Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to help you get started

Is it really free?

Yes! The 'Free & Local' plan is completely free, forever. It includes all our core time tracking features and stores your data privately in your browser. You only pay if you want cloud sync or integrations.

What's the $9 lifetime deal?

A one-time payment unlocks Odoo and Teamwork integrations, plus multi-device sync. It's a solo lifetime plan with access to all premium features forever.

How secure is my data?

With the Free & Local plan, your data stays on your device and never leaves your browser. Paid plans include optional cloud sync for multi-device access. Cloud sync is always optional. We are GDPR compliant and never sell or access your data.

Does it work offline?

Yes. You can track time with no internet connection. All data is saved automatically in your browser.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes. All plans, including Free & Local, now require an account. This makes it easy to upgrade later if you want cloud backups or integrations. You can still choose whether your data is synced to the cloud or kept on your device.

How do keyboard shortcuts work?

Use quick shortcuts to add entries without breaking your flow. Press Alt+A, Alt+N, or Ctrl+I to add a new entry. Use Alt+M for meetings, Alt+B for breaks, Alt+L for lunch, and Alt+E to end your day. These shortcuts work instantly without opening menus or clicking buttons.

How do I link entries?

Type # in any entry's description field to see a list of other entries from the same day. Select one to link to it, and Timesheeter will automatically reuse the description, project, and task. Perfect for recurring or interrupted tasks.

How do I assign projects and tasks?

Type / in any entry's description to search and assign projects and tasks. With paid plans, you can connect to Odoo or Teamwork and autocomplete from your existing projects. All plans support creating your own projects and tasks on the fly.

How does bulk reporting work?

With a Lifetime plan, click "Bulk Report" to automatically submit all entries that are tied to an Odoo (or Teamwork) project and task. Or select entries manually and click "Report". Perfect for finishing a full day or week of reporting in seconds.

What's the difference between local and cloud mode?

Local mode stores all data in your browser and works completely offline. Cloud mode lets you sync your data across devices and enables integrations with Odoo and Teamwork. You can choose what to sync (connectors, settings, or timesheets) or keep everything local.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

In local mode, clearing browser data or logging out will delete your timesheets. To avoid data loss, it is recommended to report your timesheets to your billing system regularly or to upgrade to a Lifetime plan to benefit from cloud backups. With cloud sync enabled, your data is safely stored online and can be restored on any device.

How do I set up Odoo or Teamwork integration?

Login, go to Settings and add a connector. Enter your Odoo or Teamwork credentials, and Timesheeter will sync your projects and tasks. You can then tag entries with projects and tasks, and then submit them through the connectors.

What is automatic 15-minute rounding?

With a Lifetime plan, reported time is automatically rounded to the nearest 15-minute increment (e.g., 47 minutes becomes 45, 52 minutes becomes 60). This matches common billing practices. You still see exact durations in the app, but your reports stay clean and client-friendly.

How do I track breaks and non-working time?

Mark any entry as "non-working time" to exclude it from your working hours total. Use shortcuts like Alt+B for breaks or Alt+L for lunch, or toggle the non-working switch manually. The daily summary shows your working time separately from breaks.

Can I use it on multiple devices?

With the Free & Local plan, each device has its own separate data. To sync across devices, you need a Lifetime plan with cloud sync enabled. Once enabled, your timesheets update automatically across phone, laptop, and tablet.

How does automatic time calculation work?

Timesheeter automatically calculates the duration between entries. When you add a new entry, it computes the time since the previous entry was created. The latest entry shows a live timer that updates every minute.

Can I switch between plans later?

Yes. You can start with the Free & Local plan and upgrade to a Lifetime plan anytime.

What happens to my data if I upgrade?

Your existing local data stays on your device. When you enable cloud sync, Timesheeter uploads your timesheets to our secure cloud storage. You can access them from any device. You can also disable cloud sync at any time while keeping your Lifetime plan benefits.

Does Timesheeter work on mobile devices?

Yes, Timesheeter is fully responsive and works on desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. With cloud sync enabled, you can start tracking on your computer and continue on your phone seamlessly. All features are available on mobile, so you can finish-up your timesheets on the go.

Do all employees need an Odoo license to submit timesheets?

No. Timesheeter supports organization-level authentication, which lets you connect to Odoo using a single paying user from your organization. Your employees can then track their time in Timesheeter, and the app will use their Odoo Employee ID to create timesheet entries on their behalf. This lets teams record time accurately without requiring a full Odoo license for every employee who only needs to submit timesheets.
