Data Collection

To use Timesheeter, you need to create an account. We collect the following information when you sign up:

  • Your email address and name
  • Your organisation name
  • Billing details if you request an invoice or purchase a paid plan

Timesheeter offers two data storage modes:

  • Local mode (the only option on a free plan): Your timesheets, projects, and settings are stored in your browser using localStorage. This data does not sync to our servers, but your account information (email, name, organisation) is still stored on our servers for authentication purposes.
  • Cloud sync mode (paid plans): When you enable cloud sync, we also store your timesheets, projects, connectors, and settings on our secure cloud infrastructure. This allows you to access your data across multiple devices.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Account information: Your email address, name, organisation name, and billing information (if provided) are always stored on our secure cloud infrastructure. This is required for authentication and account management.

Local mode: On the free plan, cloud sync is not available, so your timesheet data, projects, and settings are stored entirely in your browser using localStorage. This data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Cloud sync mode: When you enable cloud sync (available on paid plans), your timesheets, projects, connectors, and settings are stored on our secure cloud infrastructure in addition to localStorage. This allows you to access your data across multiple devices and maintain backups. You can disable cloud sync at any time, which will delete your cloud-stored data while keeping your local data intact.

Third-Party Services

We work with the following third-party services:

  • Payment processing: When you purchase a paid plan or request an invoice, we use Stripe to process payments. Stripe receives your billing information (name, address, payment details) as necessary to complete the transaction. We do not store your payment card details.
  • Integrations: When you use integrations (such as Odoo or Teamwork), your timesheet data can be sent at your request to those services. We do not intercept or store this data.
  • Cloud infrastructure: Our cloud services are hosted on secure infrastructure providers necessary to operate the service. These providers process your data only as necessary to provide the service.

Email Communications

We use your email address only for transactional communications necessary to provide the service:

  • Authentication (magic link login emails)
  • Account-related notifications (invitations, role changes, etc.)
  • Billing and payment confirmations
  • Important service updates or security notices

We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time, and transactional emails will continue to be sent as necessary for the service to function.

Cookies

Timesheeter uses one essential cookie (session_token) when you log in. This cookie keeps you signed in and is required for the service to function. We do not use any analytics, marketing, or tracking cookies.

We also use localStorage to store your timesheet data, projects, settings, and a copy of your session token (as a backup to the cookie). This data stays on your device unless you enable cloud sync or integrations. For more details, see our Cookie Policy.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can access all your data stored locally in your browser. If you have cloud sync enabled, you can access your cloud-stored data through your account.
  • Deletion: You can delete your local data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage. If you have cloud sync enabled, you can disable it to delete your cloud-stored data, or contact us to delete your account entirely.
  • Control: You choose whether to enable cloud sync (available on paid plans) or keep data local-only. You can disable cloud sync at any time, which will remove your synced data from our servers while keeping your local data intact. Note that your account information (email, name, organisation) will remain on our servers for authentication purposes.
